A Trip to The D: Dress, Dessert, and Deposits

Wedding plans are really on the way! Billy and I went to Michigan last weekend to start the wedding plans and with the the help of family, we got a lot done.  But first, we saw my cutest niece and nephew Charlotte Annabelle and Jackson Matthew.

The Cutest Babes

We arrived on Friday night.  My mom picked us up at the airport and we went right to the Motor City Casino.  After gobbling up some buffet food (Billy ate a Ron Swanson plate of meat) we went to gamble.  I put in $2 and left with $44.  Let's just say, Billy didn't have quite as much luck as I did.

On Saturday, we went to Molly's house to drop off (Uncle) Billy to play with the babies while the ladies went to search for wedding dresses.  I don't want to say too much about it, but the process was pretty much painless (aside from what I called the J.Lo dress.. yikes) and I am in love with my dress.  Molly was a pro at helping me try on dresses and I knew it was the one when my mom started to cry and Morg exclaimed via text, "It's perfect!"

On Sunday, we went to Granny's house for a cook-out to celebrate Auntie Sarah's birthday.  We took a quick detour to Telly's where Auntie Sarah helped us pick out some flowers for the yard.  She got a good idea of what kind of things we liked and we're sure she'll do an amazing job!  While at Granny's Billy did a rough measurement to see how big of tent we could fit back there.

Monday and Tuesday was a whirlwind of meeting with vendors.  We meet with four caterers, saw six potential hotels to block out for  guests, put a deposit down on a tent and tables, got some items for centerpieces and tried some cakes.

We met a lot of people who provided a wide variety of services and are still working now to hash out the details with everything.

The cake that we are going with is really delicious and I really look forward to eating it on my wedding day.  We didn't try any of the caterers' food, but hopefully we will make it back to Michigan at least one time before the wedding, so we can try it.

It was a very productive trip, but we managed to sneak in going to a Tiger's game and hanging out with Helen Lee in the D.

We still have a lot to do and figure out, but this was a good trip to get things going and I think we finally have some key decisions made.  Thanks to my mom, Granny, Nick, Molly, Jack, Charlie, Auntie Sarah, Morg, and Momma Palumbo for helping and supporting us on our trip!

P.S. Did you see our gift registries are up? :)
